Speaker: Bob Foley
The practice of Ageism is a de facto accepted industry practice. It is seen as a natural transition once a person turns 65 years of age. Ageism is illegal and protected by many anti-discrimination laws including local, state and federal. But the politics of confrontation relative to this issue will not change things. Instead you must outsmart the perpetrators of these actions by embracing the concept of LifeLong Learning to stay relevant in the workplace. By upholding the practice of Lifelong Learning that will be your antidote of the practice of Ageism to be used against you.

Better Retirement Decisions Through Behavioral Economics

What if I told you, people don't always make the ideal retirement decision. They are hampered by biases, anchors, and loss aversion that not only muddle their view, but can cause them to fail right out of the gate. We can use behavioral economics to not only predict behavior, but also use it to help people make a smoother transition.

Making Of A Modern Elder
Speaker: Chip Conley, Modern Elder Academy
Chip argues that “adolescence” and “retirement” were 20th century inventions. In the “Modern Elder” stage emerging today, he says, we’re full of wisdom and curiosity, and searching for meaning, not retirement. It’s time to liberate “elder” from “elder-ly.” One is purely how many years you’ve lived. The other is what you’ve done with those years. Modern Elders, he believes, have a growth mindset and are often as much an intern as a mentor. He calls for new rites of passage for midlife that will help to repurpose wisdom and inspire a sense of relevance through the Modern Elder skill-building process of: Evolve, Learn, Collaborate and Counsel.
